Water-wise Garden

The Water-wise Demonstration Garden provides information and inspiration for gardeners intent on limiting water usage while still having beautiful productive yards and gardens. The Water-wise Garden encompasses a Native Garden, a Cactus Garden and a Crevice Garden. This garden is a Plant Select demonstration garden with new plant varieties being added each year.

​Included in the Water-wise Garden are four warm-season grass plots – Dog Tuff grass (a PlantSelect variety), two of Hachita grama grass (one left uncut to show the seed heads), and Buffalo grass. The Buffalo grass is by far the most even look for a warm season lawn that takes much less water than Bluegrass.
