Volunteer Opportunities
The Montrose Botanic Gardens are administered and maintained solely by volunteers. Our community would not have this resource if it weren’t for the tireless efforts of many hands doing a variety of jobs. Whether you are interested in a one-time event or project, or a recurring commitment, we can find a place for you!
In return for your time, you will gain knowledge about gardens and gardening in the high desert, make new friends, enjoy the out of doors, and perhaps even get your hands dirty! Our volunteers are our greatest asset! How can you help? No prior experience needed! We provide on the job training! Come ready to have fun! You don’t need to be a member to volunteer (except for serving on the Board).

Weed Warriors
Weeding, dead-heading, planting, fertilizing, general maintenance of the gardens.
Our Weed Warriors meet every Wednesday morning, April through October. Start time is 9:00 am in the coolness of spring and fall, 8:00 am in the heat of summer.
special Events
Helping out with the annual picnic or holiday party, staffing booths, stations and activities at special events in the gardens or around town. Fundraising events include the Garden of Lights, Scarecrow Festival, educational programs and new events every year!
The Board
Serve on the Board of Directors or help with the planning of events by serving on a committee.
Refreshments
Bake cookies for events, make treats for weed warriors, provide refreshments for meetings or events.
